Our April tournament was held
on Lake Jordan…wow!! Most everyone went
up on Friday and most everyone found fish.
Good catches were reported around the dock, one said he had 18 pounds
including one over 6 pounds on a shakey head.
Saturday found us joining several other clubs some blasting off well
before daylight. Big rich followed
me to most of my holes and I saw Billy in a few also. I had a chance to take the lead when I hooked
a monster on spinner bait. She pulled
me over a steel cable and broke my line.
Then to make matters worse she jumped 3 times showing me my bait. There were a number of 7 fish limits on Saturday.
Wayne T, Richie and Chuck led the way but there were plenty of fishermen
within striking distance. We only had one member who did not weigh in
fish on Saturday and one who really had a bad day. Billy had engine problems, someone hit his trailer
in the parking lot, and he pulled the orange golf ball, not to mention
he only had one fish. Sorry Billy.
The forecast for Sunday was
for afternoon thunder showers, well afternoon came early…about 6:30 a. m.!! Lightening and thunder all around, not too close
but close enough to keep several of us close to the landing. Then the rain and rain and
rain off and on all morning. The
fish were still biting some, for Artie and I we boated one on the first
cast then one here and there all morning.
Weigh in had a little different attitude, Richie had a long face,
Billy had more than one, Chuck had a good bag again, so did Wayne.
John K and Kelly headed to the house early with weak catches Saturday
and the storms Sunday.
Andy could not wait to get into the Hammer
Nomination on his first tournament. When
the rain started he managed to put a rattle trap inside his rain suit then
hook his shirt to his back and ran suit, (sure would like to see a picture). He finally had to cut his new Bass Cat shirt
to use his rain suit.
We set a new club record for fish caught and weight. Probably had a new record of limits caught. Wayne finished 3rd with 31.29, Chuck takes 2nd with 31.92 and Big Rich blows out first place with 33.25.
Congratulations to the winners and to all who fished and made this one of our greatest trips and one that will be remembered by all.
Keep your line wet!!
