"From the desk of Fred Raby"

Panhandle Bass Club fished the Tensaw Delta for our January tournament.  We had nineteen members and 1 guest ready to challenge the weather and the bass.  Most everyone went south to fish the grass.  I think there were 3 boats headed north.

Of course we started the day with rain, and it got worse!  About 8:30 we had a downpour on the south end and it rained hard for about an hour and a half before the wind shifted from the South to North.  Billy, Chris Artie and I were in a creek catching a lot of shorts and an occasional keeper all on plastics but nothing special I squeezed out 4 on a brush hog, Billy had one on a crank.  Wayne, Walter and Richie and Big Rich were all in another creek throwing cranks and spinner baits.  Richie managed a limit while Wayne and Big Rich both had 5, Walter came up with only 1 keeper for his efforts.  Mack said he was on the Tombigbee and had his limit on worms, John K went north and had a limit on a jig, Bobby also went north and had a limit.

We did not have any sandbar, diving or boat launching incidents and no injuries.  At the weigh in we found a good number of fish caught despite the somewhat miserable weather.  Richie was 3rd with a 7 fish limit of 7.83 pounds, Mack was 2nd with 7 for 8.26, and the new guy Bobby took 1st place honors (again) with 7 for 8.64.

As always it is better to be fishing than sitting on the couch.

Keep your line wet!
